The Ritz Renovation
Tallahassee, FL
Once a 1930s cinema, the building has been thoughtfully reimagined into a modern workplace that demonstrates the power of renovation to preserve history while inspiring new life and purpose. The design honors the building’s enduring character through the careful restoration of its historic brick façade and original plasterwork, while introducing contemporary glass and metal elements that express transparency, innovation, and forward momentum. A new covered balcony extends from the second floor gathering space, activating the streetscape and reestablishing the building’s presence along South Monroe Street. Inside, the renovation reorganizes the narrow floor plan to draw natural light deep into the space, transforming what was once a dark theater into a bright, connected workplace. Glazed office fronts and refined finishes enhance openness, collaboration, and comfort, reflecting a professional ethos and commitment to excellence. Every design gesture bridges the past and present. The result is a building that celebrates its cinematic legacy while standing as a model for adaptive reuse.
